Thank you, interns!
Summer internships are a great learning opportunity for college students to supplement their classroom learning during the school year. This summer, three students from Regis College joined the Playspace team as interns dedicated to supporting shifts at hotel-based programs in Everett and Stoughton. With an increased number of shelter residents speaking Haitian-Creole and Spanish, the interns’ language competency helped to orient children and their families with the program in their own language. We’re so grateful for their support!
Upcoming PAL Community Meetings

Our Playspace team continues to transition and grow! Earlier this fall, we welcomed two new volunteer specialists for our Northeast and South Coast regions. Please join us in welcoming Ashley Smith and Cassandra Olaya!
Ashley Smith holds a bachelor's in Psychology and Early Childhood Education and recently completed two master's in Psychology focused on Trauma and Global Mental Health. Ashley brings experience working with trauma-affected populations and is very passionate about creating safe, empowering, and supportive spaces for children!
Cassandra Olaya holds a bachelor's in Women's Studies and brings seven years of social service and non-profit experience. Prior to joining Horizons, she worked with New Bedford Child and Family Services, KinderCare Education, and Good Neighbors RI. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons!
We also said farewell and good luck to our team members, Heather Bennette and Alec Van Dyke, who left Horizons to start new chapters. We will miss them both!
